Roosevelt Point Trail Details
Dedicated to Teddy Roosevelt, the U.S. president who helped found the National Park Service, this wooded loop provides good views from the top of a fairly tall ridge. The trail itself is relatively short, and leads to a number of picnic areas and benches. Although the views are sometimes obscured by the ponderosa pines that line the ridge, there are occasionally good vistas of nearby mesa and buttes, as well as the white limestone face of Tirtle Peak. The area, which spans the space between Bright Angel Point and Cape Royal on the Walhalla Plateau, still shows blackened signs of the damage done by a 2000 forest fire.
