Lookout Studio Details
Built in 1914, Lookout Studio was designed by renowned park architect Mary Colter, who used native material and drew upon prehistoric Native American building techniques in its construction. For nearly a century, visitors have peered into the canyon using telescopes on the two-story building's porches and lingered over purchases of paintings, postcards, and other gifts in the studio shop. You also can use the coin-operated telescopes to spy the giant California condors that ride the canyon's thermal updrafts each afternoon.
