Superintendent's Residence Details
As the popularity of Banff National Park continued to increase after World War I in both visitors and permanent population of Banff, partially due to improved automobile access, the park superintendent's responsibilities increased as well. To better suit the superintendent's elevated status, a new residence was built in 1920-21, on the same site as the original residence had stood since 1902. The Superintendent's Residence is found in a residential enclave off of Banff Avenue in downtown Banff. It is a well-known community landmark. The Superintendent's Residence is listed on Canada's Historic Places and the Canadian Register, and is a Federal Heritage Building.
