Bryant Creek Warden Cabin Details
When it was build in 1945, the Bryant Creek Warden Cabin was intended to house wardens whose job it was to patrol Banff National Park on horseback in the summertime, and on snowshoes or skis in the wintertime. The cabin was just one in a network to minimize travel time between cabins and points within the park. The Bryant Creek Warden Cabin sits in a sub-alpine meadow and backs onto Mt. Mercer, facing the open valley to the Allenby Pass in Banff National Park's backcountry. The cabin serves as an important landmark to hikers, backpackers, skiers and snowshoers who are making their way to nearby Bryant Creek Shelter, which is open and available for, well, shelter. The cabin and shelter are accessible via the Watrdige Lake Trail (13.8 kilometers, 8.6 miles, recommended winter route), or the Bryant Creek Trail (32 kilometers, 19.9 miles). The Bryant Creek Warden Cabin is listed on Canada's Historic Places and the Canadian Register, and is a Federal Heritage Building.
