Fishing is certainly permitted within Banff National Park, but you should be aware of which waters are open when before casting your line. Open season begins in April and runs through October, but not all waters are open during all of those months. You'll also want to be sure to follow the general fishing regulations as set forth by the Canada National Parks Act. Under the act, it is unlawful to fish without a national park fishing permit (16 years and older need permits which are $9.80 a day, or $34.30 annually); fish in closed waters; leave a fishing line unattended; allow catch to spoil or be wasted; and harass fish by throwing objects or impeding their movements; and several more.
