The largest natural lake in England is fittingly a center of activity in the Lake District. It's a little over 11 miles long and about one mile wide. Visitors can rent rowboats, sailboats, canoes, kayaks and small motorboats from multiple marinas along the lake's shore. There are public footpaths along the western shore, as well as places to rent bicycles. There's a bike ferry across the northern part of the lake and a car ferry running across the middle of the lake. There are also multiple side hikes nearby, as well as campgrounds and picnic spots.
