Rydal Water Details

Small Rydal Water is just east of more popular Grasmere Lake and offers a serene spot for hiking and swimming. One of the smallest lakes at 3/4-mile long and 1/4-mile wide, it's quite popular due to its connection to poet William Wordsworth. Steps lead up from the lake's western end to Wordsworth's Seat, reputed to be the poet's favorite viewpoint. A popular 5.3-mile walk combines Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water along a well-maintained path.
