Tours

During the peak visiting season there are a number of talks, guided tours, and educational programs available from the parks ranger stations and visitor centers. Many ranger-led programs focus on the regions history, culture, and ecosystems, and are geared toward specific age groups and ages. Past ranger programs have included bear discovery, bird identification, the BioBlitz biodiversity series, and Stehekin cultural history. The North Cascades Institute, on the shore of Diablo Lake, also offers wonderful range of educational programs focusing on ecology, history, arts, ecosystems, and wildlife. Recent offerings have included wildflower identification, foraging for wild edibles, block printing, book binding, beaver ecology, favorite North Cascades hikes, and Ross Lake canoeing. These programs often require advance registration, and can have a duration of a few hours to multiple days, or even weeks. Many also require a tuition fees, and/or lodging fees. Private tours, including hiking, climbing, river rafting, boating, backpacking, and horse riding are also available.
