Salmon River Details

The Salmon River is a great option for boating, it travels 70 miles through the park from the Baird Mountains. Expedition paddling experience is highly recommended before setting off in the park, however if you prefer, guided boat trips may be arranged by commercial outfitters in Kotzebue. As this river is entirely in the backcountry, visitors looking to paddle in the park should have advanced knowledge of Alaskan rivers and be experienced with backcountry paddling. In return for challenging conditions, visitors paddling the park can expect to see unadulterated nature and wildlife by the slow and steady pace of a boat. If you are interested in signing up for a commercially guided trip, call the park at (907) 442-3890 to inquire about local operators currently running trips.
