Learn About the Park
The park's namesake are actually two peaks: Frigid Crags and Boreal Mountain. These "gates of the arctic" connect the central Brooks Range to the far north Arctic. With an elevation of 5,501 feet, Frigid Crags draws both climbers and wilderness campers who seek to see wild, untouched beauty. The flat valley below is well-suited to family-friendly activities like camping, fishing, hiking and birdwatching. Boreal Mountain has an elevation of 6.654 feet, is part of the Brooks Range and contains a variety of interesting vegetation. You'll find tundra plants on the higher slopes plus spruce, birch and aspen trees in the boreal forests down below.
