Starting in Port Alworth, follow the established, well-marked 3.5-mile route to Kontrashibuna Lake. You'll want to be sure to stop at Tanalian Falls before continuing on. The established route ends at Kontrashibuna Lake, and that's when you'll start hiking on game trails along the lake's shoreline and beaches. Along the way, you'll see some spectacular scenery and plenty of places to camp. Salmon runs July through October, so go ahead, cast a line for your dinner! To access Kontrashibuna Lake, you will need to fly into Port Alworth. You can hike one-way and fly out from the upper end of the lake; or, double your mileage by returning to Port Alworth and fly out from there.
