Viewing the park from a small floatplane gives you a perspective you can't get on the ground. Several outfitters offer flightseeing trips — scenic plane rides that allow you to see more of the park than you could on your own. Take in the grandeur and sheer enormity of Katmai National Park's four million acres, from the valleys and tundra to the volcanoes of the Aleutian range, to the park's expansive coastline and network of lakes and streams. You also might be able to see roaming bear and moose, schools of fish, and marine mammals off the coast. Most of the same companies that offer air taxi service to and from the park also offer scenic flightseeing tours. These operations are based out of nearby towns such as Anchorage, Homer, King Salmon, Soldotna, and Kodiak.
