Ranger-led Programs

Besides boat tours and canoe tours, rangers lead a variety of hikes, interpretive walks and lectures throughout the year. The Ethno-botanical Garden Tour takes place daily from June through September, 1:00pm to 1:30 pm. You walk through a botanical area with many exotic and native plants, to an ancient Ojibwe camp site. This tour is free. Each evening from 8:30 pm to 9:00 pm, mid-June through August, rangers lead a Twilight Walk into the Past. For this historical program, the rangers reenact various historical figures to help visitors envision what life was like in this region hundreds of years ago. The talk begins at the Woodenfrog Refectory, in the Woodenfrog State Forest Campground just northwest of Kabetogama Lake Campground, and it is free.
