Basic Information

Summer, the most popular month to visit the park, is hot and dry, with temps frequently hovering in the 90s; bring TONS of water (more than you think you'll need, at LEAST a half gallon per person) and wear a hat! Summer afternoon thundershowers are common, so keep a rain jacket handy. Winters, on the other hand, are COLD with temps in the mid-teens to thirties: be prepared with plenty of extra layers and sturdy snow boots. Fall and spring have variable weather which can change quickly and dramatically; temps range from the 40s to the 60s and strong winds are common. Check the local forecast before you go, bring plenty of extra layers, a waterproof windbreaker, and plenty of water! The rangers are constantly dealing with dehydrated visitors, so please stay hydrated!
