Situk River Trail Details
To reach the Situk River Trail, head east from Yakutat along Highway #10 (Dangerous River Road) for 9 miles. At the Nine-Mile-Bridge turn onto a short gravel road on the south side of the highway to reach the trailhead. The Situk River Trail accesses top-notch steelhead and salmon fishing as well as two public use cabins. The first section of this 4-mile one-way trail follows the river corridor, teeming with wildlife. There are multiple fishing access pints along this section. The trail then turns away from the river and intersects the Ten-Mile ATV Trail, continuing on to two Forest Service cabins, Raven and Eagle (both of which can be reserved on recreation.gov) and the Situk River airstrip. A spur trail will take you just a bit off track to see the confluence of the Situk and Old Situk Rivers. More fishing access points exist downriver from the airstrip. This hike is not inside Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. It is within Tongass National Forest.
