REMEMBER TO RECYCLE!

Most travelers who visit the U.S. National Parks would like to experience a environment free of trash and litter. Unfortunately, just by visiting the parks, eating at the restaurants, and using the facilities, people generate huge amounts of trash. And in many cases, that trash ends up in landfills -- the antithesis of a pristine park. Partnering with companies like Subaru, the U.S. National Park Service is stepping up recycling in the national parks to reduce the mounds of trash that get landfilled each year. In parks like Yosemite, Denali and Grand Teton, the goal is to completely eliminate landfill trash through recycling, reusing, and composting everything that visitors discard. How can you help the parks reach this "zero landfill" goal? Aim to use as few disposable materials as possible. Throw recyclable trash in the appropriate bins in parks where recycling programs are in place. And if you don't see any bins, follow the Leave No Trace philosophy by carrying out what you carry in, and recycle your waste when you get home.
