WHY US?

In 2002, Subaru was generating almost 450 pounds of waste for every vehicle they produced, when they had what many thought was an impossible idea: shrink that number to zero and begin making cars without throwing anything away. By looking at every part of their process, employing common sense and uncommon ingenuity, Subaru reached their goal and became the first U.S. auto manufacturer to be zero landfill, with all waste generated either recycled or repurposed to produce energy. So, in conjunction with their history of supporting our national parks, Subaru saw a chance to share their vast environmental expertise to do something of lasting importance and thus was born their historic National Parks Zero-Landfill Initiative. **Next**: Yosemite, Grand Teton, and Denali: Our Pilot Parks.
