Paddling from island to island via kayak is a great method of seeing the park. Clear water and diverse marine life means that there is plenty to see. The park's many seagrass beds and coral reefs are home to many species. Prior to your visit there are many things to plan for and consider. Kayaking in open water can be dangerous. Park staff are not always readily available to perform search and rescue operations. Kayakers must know their equipment and capabilities. It is also important to have a plan for self rescue in case of emergency. Park staff may brief you on paddling in the park when you arrive. You must make contact with park staff before entering the water. A boating permit is required for all craft within the park. Ensure that someone knows where you will be going and when you will return. Check the current weather forecasts, tides and winds.
