Activities

Bringing your own boat to Dry Tortugas is the best way to explore the park. However, fuel, food and water are not available on the islands, so planning is essential. Use [NOAA nautical charts 11438 and 11434](http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/AtlanticCoastViewerTable.shtml) to safely navigate to and from the islands. Kayaks can be used to travel from one island to another. Divers and snorkelers looking to explore sites off Loggerhead Key and Long Reef Key would be well served by a kayak. Please follow proper safety precautions, which include leaving your travel plan with a fellow camper and carrying a VHF radio, whistle and flashlight, even when kayaking at daytime. Please note that a boating permit is required for all vessels. Consult with park staff upon your arrival. Permits are free.
