Nymph Lake Details
Nymph Lake is a small lake located alongside Grand Loop Road, approximately 2.5 miles north of Norris Junction. The lake is one of the most acidic in the park and therefore hosts no fish. It was given its name in 1931 by Hermon Bumpus for a genus of water lily known as nymphaea. An early concessioner/park guide, George L. Henderson, had originally named the lake Quadrant Lake. The lake's water comes from a small, unnamed, one-acre pond just north of it, as well as runoff from Frying Pan Springs and Roadside Hot Springs. Nymph empties into the Gibbon River some three miles south.
