Chisos Basin Road Details
This 6-mile drive is a seamless transition between the dry desert and the cooler mountains in the park. The road climbs over 2,000 feet within the six miles and the views are completely spectacular. Chisos Basin Road leads to the Chisos Basin which offers a camp store, lodge, restaurant, visitor center, campground and miles upon miles of hiking trails. Though there aren't any stops along the way, this road is a highlight because of the beautiful Chisos Basin area and the vistas along the way. Because of the steep grade of the road (almost 15%), it is not recommended for RVs over 24 feet long or trailers longer than 20 feet.
