Learn About the Park

Pinnacles is home to ferns, lichens, trees, shrubs, wildflowers and endangered plants. Although its dry climate may seem counterproductive to plant growth, the park features deep canyons that provide shade to plants that thrive on moisture such as horsetail ferns and valley oak trees, which are unique to California. Other native plant species do well in drier conditions. These include coffee ferns, orchids and blue oak trees.
