Skunk Cabbage Trail Details

The Skunk Cabbage section of California's Coastal Trail runs between its north trailhead on Davison Road, just past Gold Bluffs Beach entrance station, to its south trailhead on Highway 101 at mile marker 122.69. From the north starting point on the beach, follow the trail as it climbs the steep banks of Skunk Cabbage Creek. From here, you'll wind across open hillsides to an overlook. After soaking in the views, descend to the creek drainage, where skunk cabbage dominates the plant community. You'll also pass redwoods, spruce, and hemlocks as you walk through a canyon, finishing in second-growth forest.
