Redwood Creek is one of the three major rivers running through the national park and, at 61 miles long, it is one of the centerpieces of the park. The river meanders its way down to the ocean by the Kuchel Visitor Center. At the Redwood Creek Estuary, visitors can see the wide drainage where freshwater meets saltwater and redwoods perch on both sides. Located to the east of US 101, the Redwood Creek trailhead has a parking area large enough for trailers, with an adjacent picnic area. If you continue south along Bald Hills Road you can access the Redwood Creek overlook, which sits at a height of 2,100 feet and offers spectacular views of the river, estuary, and redwoods. This is one of the most scenic overlooks in the park, and should not be missed.
