Learn About the Park
Most people who have experienced Alaska's Inside Passage have done so from the deck of a cruise ship: a visit to Glacier Bay National Park can get you off the shore and exploring 3.3 million acres of mountains, glaciers, temperate rainforest, and fjords. The fraction of the 400,000 annual visitors not on Alaska cruises access the park via the state capital of Juneau, where daily flights depart for the town of Gustavus. The visitor center is located in the Glacier Bay Lodge on nearby Bartlett Cove, also home to the park's only campground. Largely wilderness, Glacier Bay National Park can be experienced in many ways, from a kayak tour to see calving glaciers, to hikes along the Bartlett River and the Glacier Bay shoreline and backcountry hikes.
