Every night during the summer season, park rangers facilitate viewing parties where you can watch thousands of bats exit the cave mouth in search of food. You'll sit in an amphitheater at the cave's mouth, listen to a short talk, then watch in amazement as a mass of bats floods into the sunset sky. Once each summer, rangers also lead the Dawn of the Bats, an opportunity to gather at the amphitheater before sunrise to watch the bats flock back to the cave at the end of their nightly hunt. Rangers also lead stargazing events once a month. Take advantage of several high-power telescopes to view the night sky while rangers stand by to answer your questions. The night sky is especially vivid in the desert because of the clear air and the lack of any bright lights nearby.
