Activities

The park has no established campgrounds, but backcountry camping is allowed. Pick up a free backcountry permit at the visitor center (in-person only, not by reservation) and pitch your tent anywhere west of the Rattlesnake Canyon trailhead and south of the Guadalupe Ridge trailhead. Once you go two miles from the Guadalupe Ridge Trailhead, you can camp north or south of the trail. Group size is capped at 10 per campsite, and all camps have to be a half-mile from any road, 300 feet from any water source, and 100 feet from any trail. You have to be 18 years or older to obtain a backcountry permit.
