The waters of Channel Islands National Park are teeming with life, and you can get a glimpse by snorkeling off the shore or off a boat. Snorkeling is best off of Santa Barbara, Anacapa, and eastern Santa Cruz Island. The best spots to check out include the Landing Coves on Santa Barbara Island and Anacapa Island, and Scorpion Beach on Santa Cruz Island. Park-authorized concessioners offer guided snorkel and dive trips within the park. It's important to note that there are no lifeguards on duty in the park. When diving, be sure to always use the buddy system and let someone know where you are. Wetsuits and hoods are also recommended, since water temperatures remain cold year-round (55-70 degrees Fahrenheit).
