Activities

No bikes are allowed on the hiking trails at Lassen - a bummer for those looking to use their mountain bikes. However, those with road bikes and some stamina can bike the entirety of the park road, which adds up to a total of 56 miles out-and-back, and involves an elevation gain of over 5,000 feet. Lassen is one of our nation's least visited national parks, and biking the main park road during the shoulder seasons (check for snow conditions and road closures) can be amazing due to the lack of traffic. There's no flat segments, however, so be prepared to climb, but the route is all moderate, generally with 4 to 6 percent grades.
