Kid-Friendly Options

From snorkeling to combing the rocky shoreline to canoeing on the calm waters, there are plenty of ways for kids to enjoy themselves when visiting the park. Throughout the year, family-friendly programs are held, including a Family Fun Fest the second Sunday of each month, January through May. During the festival, everyone enjoys three hours of hands-on activities -- both kids and kids-at-heart. Children in grades five and six can take part in a three-day/two-night environmental camping program on Elliott Key from January through March. The popular Junior Ranger program is offered at Biscayne National Park, with a twist. In addition to earning a badge after completing the requirements here, kids can earn badges at two other South Florida national parks -- Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park -- as well as an exclusive South Florida National Parks Junior Ranger patch for completing all three park programs.
